Get to know CSA Education’s Resource Manager, Christina Jones, with our updated staff Q&A!

Interviewer: What is your name and role at CSA?
Christina: Christina Jones; Resource Manager
Interviewer: What is a win you’ve had recently that made you proud to work in education?
Christina: I loved helping to recruit French language learning specialists! I got to chat with some great individuals about chocolate croissants and traveling abroad and our team is really excited about this project. Total win!
Interviewer: If you had to describe the vibe of the CSA team in three words, what would they be?
Christina: Dad jokes galore!
Interviewer: What’s a common misconception about your role that you’d love to clear up?
Christina: My role is a really great mix of skills, many of which I learned in my career as a librarian. One large part of my role is recruiting freelancers for projects. Honestly, I never imagined myself as a recruiter, but a lot of skills transfer from the library world like research, engaging with people, database skills, and the tenacity to not give up until the project is done! I think recruiting has a bit of a negative connotation, possibly carried over from other fields like tech or corporate recruiting—the concept that people are just numbers. But recruiting for the education content development world is very different as we see people first! And I personally believe that education is one of the most important things in our society. Connecting the right educational professional with the right project at the right time to help further education is a bit of an art and an honor!
Interviewer: What project are you currently working on that gets you excited to start the day?
Christina: I’m currently working on expanding our contractor database in skill-set areas that I think we can be stronger in to match current market needs. For example, Alignment is hopping! We have a fantastic Alignment team (shout-out to Scottie Altland—we’d be lost without you!), but we’ve had an increase in quick-turn Alignment projects. Alignments require a very specific skill-set as executing a crosswalk can be tricky. I’m currently reaching out to prospective freelancers that I think might be a great fit and seeing if they’d like to join our contractor database. Connecting with freelancers on LinkedIn is one of my favorite parts of my role. I love looking at the professional history of contractors on LinkedIn and really seeing their timeline. How did they get into education, what other really cool skills have they picked up along the way? How can I connect them with a project?
Interviewer: Which CSA core value resonates the most with you and why?
Christina: My favorite CSA Core value is “We Support!” I truly believe our best work as professionals comes from collaboration. Talking things out, getting different perspectives, and editing until everyone is happy with the final version or plan is the hard way! But I believe it’s the best way! We’re stronger and smarter with all of our experiences and skillsets combined. It allows us to be the best version of the team that we can be! When I look back on my entire career in the library world and the educational content development world, my favorite projects are the ones where collaboration is woven throughout the execution plan!
