Interviewer: How did you become a part of CSA?
Emily: I started freelance writing on various math projects for CSA. When this position became available, I applied immediately because I loved working with the people at CSA!
Interviewer: What is the best part of your job?
Emily: I love being part of the process for creating math content that will help students and teachers across the country.
Interviewer: What do you wish schools focused on more in terms of education and why?
Emily: I wish that schools focused more on application of skills and content in an authentic way so that students have a better understanding of why they need to learn each topic. I also feel that using engaging contexts and a hands-on approach help students buy into their own learning and see the connections between different concepts and subject areas.
Interviewer: What are three interesting facts about you?
Emily: I share a birthday with my middle son. I have a degree in Math and a degree in Fine Art. I donated 17 inches of hair the last time I got my hair cut, and I am currently growing it out to donate again.
