Meet the CSA Team: Scottie Altland

Interviewer: What is your name?

Scottie: Scottie Altland

Interviewer: What is your position at CSA?

Scottie: Director, Alignment Services

Interviewer: What does that position entail?

Scottie: In my role, I work to bridge the gap between project management and client relations. From the initial client meeting to final delivery, I collaborate closely with the alignment team to keep projects on track and exceed expectations. This involves fostering strong relationships with clients and ensuring collaboration with internal teams and any external contractors we bring on board. Ultimately, the goal is to deliver high-quality work that stays on budget and on time, but the most rewarding aspect is seeing a client genuinely impressed with the final product—a testament to the collaborative efforts of our entire team.

Interviewer: How did you become a part of CSA?

Scottie: I enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where I can continue to develop my skills in strategic leadership. While I have experience managing projects and teams, I’m particularly interested in learning how to develop and implement long-term strategies for the Alignment Services department at CSA. The position appealed to me because it offers an exciting opportunity to apply those skills in a new and dynamic way.

Interviewer: What is the best part of your job?

Scottie: I find it incredibly motivating to work alongside a talented team and see everyone come together to successfully execute complex projects. No two projects are ever exactly the same, and I love finding creative solutions and developing new skills to ensure each project is a success. The collaborative environment and sense of shared accomplishment are the best parts of the job for me.

Interviewer: What do you wish people knew about your work at CSA?

Scottie: I wish people more fully understood the impact our alignment services have on the educational sector. By ensuring materials and resources are properly aligned with state and national standards, we are not just managing projects—we are contributing to a more effective learning experience for students. The ever-changing landscape of state and national standards, combined with the unique adoption processes in each state, keeps our team constantly learning and adapting. It is a challenging but rewarding process that requires flexibility and a commitment to staying informed. Our team navigates these complexities to deliver the most up-to-date, cost-effective, and compliant solutions for our clients.

Interviewer: What do you wish schools focused on more in terms of education and why?

Scottie: Seeing my own children struggle in a traditional school environment due to their diverse learning needs truly opened my eyes. I wish schools prioritized personalized learning for all students. This approach acknowledges that neurodivergent learners, and all students for that matter, often benefit from different approaches. Exploring personalized learning could remove barriers to success, allowing all students to thrive.

Interviewer: What are three interesting facts about you?

Scottie: I love staying active with yoga, pilates, and walking my dog. Exploring nature by hiking, kayaking, and skiing are also favorites. For some downtime, I enjoy creating new plant-based recipes, solving word puzzles, and catching live music.
