Chris Benson manages and monitors CSA’s K–20 CTE curriculum development projects. Along with ensuring the delivery of high-quality projects on time and on budget, he oversees all CTE curriculum development, and provides guidance to project managers and editors regarding workflow, client relations, and staff management.
Chris entered the publishing world in 2012. He founded Macatawa Publishing Services, which produced supplemental materials for skilled trade educational products in construction, electrical, electrical safety, and automotive technology for major publishers. He managed the development of Ugly’s Electrical Reference Line of products, the redesign and rebuild of CDX Learning Systems’ Medium Truck and Heavy Equipment program, and the development of an HVACR curriculum.

After serving in the Illinois Army National Guard, Chris became a Certified Journeyman Electrician in 1995. He received his Associate degree in Electrical Construction Technology from Daley College in Chicago before obtaining his Bachelor’s degree in the Practice and Psychology of Business Management from DePaul University. As a lifelong learner, Chris completed a graduate program in Editing at the University of Chicago Graham School. Most recently, he earned his Master of Liberal Arts in Extension Studies in the field of Journalism, including a graduate certificate in Learning Design and Technology from Harvard University Extension School. He is also skilled in multiple Adobe and Microsoft programs, JIRA, Aha, and Alfresco.
Along with being a huge music fan, Chris loves collecting posters from concerts he attends. He has over 30 on display in his office. He loves to play the guitar and sing as well as spend time with his family. Currently, he has a new challenge: training a Sheepadoodle puppy!
