Gabriela Moya
Associate Director, World Languages
Pronouns: she/her
As CSA Education’s Associate Director of World Languages, Gabriela is responsible for overseeing all World Languages projects. Along with ensuring the delivery of high-quality content on time and on budget, she oversees all World Languages curriculum development, and provides guidance to project managers and editors regarding workflow, client relations, and staff management.
Gabriela’s 25-year career in educational publishing reflects strong leadership and hands-on editorial and project management expertise. While working for a major educational publisher, Gabriela led the team that produced the first international ELT projects in México, which contributed to one of the fastest-growing areas in the company. Another accomplishment she is proud of is writing (in record time) most of the fiction and non-fiction selections included in Odyssey Reading Books for low primary levels, all of which were approved by the Mexican Ministry of Education.
Highlights from Gabriela’s career include the following:
- Managing a new ELT six-level series for the Latin American market, including resourcing, scheduling, budgeting, coordinating freelancers, content, and copyediting, plus serving as liaison between Editorial and Production teams
- Leading a group of writers and illustrators from different countries in the Americas to develop a new collection of leveled readers in Spanish for grades K–8 and the corresponding ancillary resources for teachers
- Coordinating and supervising the work of a group of translators, science advisors, and video makers to develop a new set of Math and Science videos for grades 6-12
- Designing and teaching an internal training course on the Mexican Ministry of Education’s English curriculum
- Managing the editorial and production processes of multiple titles simultaneously
Gabriela earned her Bachelor’s degree in Pedagogy from Centro Nacional de Evaluación (CENEVAL). She also holds professional certificates in New Educational Strategies for K–12 from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and Design of Online Teaching Materials from CREFAL/UNESCO. Gabriela is a native Spanish speaker with a Level C2 Cambridge Proficiency Certificate in English. Gabriela is passionate about keeping up-to-date in the educational field so she recently attended the seminar New Discoveries in Neuroscience Related to the Learning Process, as well as webinars on early childhood, the Science of Reading, and biliteracy. In March 2024, she is starting a Master’s Degree on Cognitive Psychology by FLACSO Argentina.
Gabriela lives in a small town in Puebla, México. Her office overlooks two volcanoes—one of which is active—that produce some of the most breathtaking sunsets! Years ago, she took in a stray cat who now thinks he owns the place, but he has proven to be great, silent company. Gabriela also enjoys classical music and can be found attending multiple concerts on the weekends.
