Interviewer: What is your name?

Corrie: Corrie Thompson

Interviewer: What is your position at CSA?

Corrie: Senior Editor

Interviewer: What does that position entail?

Corrie: I work on editorial projects, and I do everything from answering freelancer questions to ensuring we are meeting due dates, writing content, editing content, and other project-specific needs. Basically, I do a little bit of everything.

Interviewer: How did you become a part of CSA?

Corrie: I joined the CSA team in 2017. I had just completed a year-long internship at Highlights Press and was looking to move back to the Chicago area when I found CSA. I applied and hit the ground running on a huge project that was all-hands-on-deck. Before CSA and Highlights, I had done some journalism work, publicity work, and book reviews, and I learned that I liked creating content best.

Interviewer: What is the best part of your job?

Corrie: I like that I can still learn new things from some of the content we work on while also feeling that I am making a difference helping others learn, too. One of my goals is to encourage education and creativity.

Interviewer: What do you wish people knew about your work at CSA?

Corrie: I perform many different tasks that are behind the scenes on projects.

Interviewer: What do you wish schools focused on more in terms of education and why?

Corrie: I think in the past year, we have seen a huge shift toward diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and I believe it is a very important part of raising young people and showing them how to integrate what they learn into the real world.

Interviewer: What are three interesting facts about you?

Corrie:  In my spare time, I do photography. I had one of my photographs used for the cover of a magazine. I love to travel, and in my travels, I have been lucky to experience some incredible moments, such as seeing the Queen and the royal family in a parade in London, England. I also saw the pope give a speech outside the Colosseum for Easter! I am not normally a person who wins things, but I joined a trivia team for a 10-week trivia contest, and we all won kayaks, so I am the proud owner of a new kayak.
